I received the M.Sc. in Telecommunications and Electronic from the University of East (Cuba) in 2004, and the Master and Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Zaragoza (Spain), in 2010 and 2013, respectively. From 2004 to 2007, before starting my Ph.D., I worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Telecommunications, University of East (Cuba). Then, during my Ph.D. studies, I visited the Lund University Hospital (Lund, Sweden) for three months.
From 2014 to 2018, I joined the Signal and Image Processing Laboratory (LTSI) at the University of Rennes 1 (France), pursuing my postdoctoral training while participating in several clinical research projects, and in close collaboration with the Rennes University Hospital (CHU Rennes).
Since earlier 2018, I moved to Barcelona and joined the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) as a Juan de la Cierva research fellow. Then, I was granted a European Union’s H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowship, for developing the 24-month duration project "DEEPDREAM" (2020–2022). My current research interests are focused on the development of signal processing techniques and data-driven models, combined with machine learning techniques and Big Data analytics focused on biomedical applications, to improve the diagnosis and prognosis of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.
